Microbial growth kinetics. The isolation, preservation and improvement of industrial micro-organisms. Media for industrial fermentations. Transport phenomena in microbial systems. Mass and energy balances for microbial growth and product formation kinetics. Design and analysis of biological reactors. The recovery and purification of fermentation products. Specific applications of fermentation technology (i.e. ethanol and single-cell-protein productions).
