FACULTY OF ENGINEERING
Established in 1973, the department of Mechanical Engineering as part of Middle East Technical University (METU) is the basis fot this faculty. With the establishment of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1974, it turned into Gaziantep Engineering Faculty within METU. Finally, when Gaziantep University was established in 1987, it became Faculty of Engineering within this new university.|
The Faculty of Engineering consists of nine departments including Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic, Civil, Food, Physic, Industrial, and Textile Engineering, as recently founded Metallurgical and Materials and Computer Engineering.
The Curriculum of the Faculty of Engineering is designed to prepare students as modern engineers with sound research and development capabilities. The faculty provides an excellent educational and training environment for students including well-furnished library and well-equipped modern laboratories. The departments in the faculty aim to give their students the opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge and training in a wide range of related areas and they are encouraged to develop their powers of observation, creativity and flexible thinking. A graduate of our faculty should be able to work at national and international levels, participate actively in product design and development, follow and adapt to new technologies and be sensitive to social, environmental and ethical values.
There is a wide variety of research projects conducted in the various departments. The faculty has a reputation for its quality teaching staffs who publish their research at national and international levels and it has respectable national ranking in terms of international industrial establishments to help the economy at the local and national level. High standards of teaching, research, and community service are all common parameters in all degree programs.
The departments of the Faculty of Engineering offer courses for the B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees. The medium of instruction is English in all departments in the faculty.
