Mathematical preliminaries. Functions of several variables. Convexity and convex-functions. Unconstrained minimization problems. Optimality conditions and applications to optimal control. Computational algorithms such as steepest descent, Newton-Raphson, and conjugate gradient methods. Constrained minimization problems and Kuhn-Tucker theory. Computational methods for solving constrained minimization problems.
